Seminar at the University of Seville (Spain)
On 10 May 2024, Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa participated in a seminar organized by the University of Seville to present his preliminary findings on the intertwine between political and legal rationales regarding the voting patterns at the General Assembly of the United Nations relatively to the Resolutions adopted since 2014 regarding Ucraine. This is an expanded follow up to Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa’s article published in 2017 by the Santa Clara Journal of International Law, delving specifically on GA Res 68/262 (Crimea).

On 18 Oct. 2023, Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa presented selected findings of his recently published research on “national security & investment screening”. He comparatively reviewed the discipline and case-law of Italy and the UK, and touched upon certain related findings in the very recent Lee Chin v Dominica award.

Speaking at the 2023 Annual Belgrade Arbitration Conference (Serbia)
On 24 March 2023, in the framework of the XIII Belgrade Arbitration Conference hosted by the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade, Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa has been invited to speak on the topic «International sanctions and international commercial arbitration: to face or to side-step?», based on his direct experience with arbitration proceedings dealing with this issue.

Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa speaking at the 80th biennial conference of the International Law Association (Lisbon, Portugal)
On 23 June 2022, Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa participated in the 80th biennial conference of the International Law Association, held in Lisbon and pivoting around the theme “International Law: our common good”. Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa was invited to speak on “Future generations and international law: challenging ‘universal’ assumptions in a multi-polar world”. Building on his previous research, he illustrated specific characteristics and consequences flowing from the different approaches toward international law that States display in the face of major events, including in international trade and investment.

The panel is moderated by Professor Julien Chaisse, and other speakers include Jeanne Huang, Helena Cheng, Mariel Dimsey, and Daniel Alef.

On Thursday, 17 June 2021, Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa, acted as Lead Discussant to the Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union, Prof. Juliane Kokott, speaking on “The Settlement of Tax Treaty Disputes by the European Court of Justice“, at a workshop organized by the Leiden University on “Globalization and digitalization: interconnections between taxation, trade, and investment”.

On 3 June 2021, Dr. Vaccaro-Incisa delivered the keynote address for the webinar organized by the Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy (SIDRA) BRI Program on China’s Investment Treaty Policy and Practice: Arbitration Clauses limited to Compensation due to Expropriation. He provided an examination of arbitration clauses limited to compensation due to expropriation in China’s investment treaties, including relevant case law and court decisions.
